I’ve been so looking forward to posting this family’s session! Over a year ago, I met Ashley Degen and her beautiful family when I photographed little Kylah’s newborn photos.

Can you believe that this little dark-haired beauty

has grown into this adorable little munchkin?

And that this mischievous toddler

has grown into this spunky little girl?

Seriously, I LOVE when I get the chance to photograph the same family several years in a row. It’s so amazing to see how the kids have changed and watch the family grow.

These sisters did beautifully for their session, despite some heat, and made it super hard for me to narrow down their gallery after we were finished!

This one’s my favorite.

No, maybe these are my favorite. :)

Beautiful light, beautiful girl.

There is just so much love in this family…

And on a side note, if you need a great hairstylist, Ashley works at O’Hair Salon and Spa in Kentlands, MD and her clients rave about her. :)

It’s always a privilege working with you, Ashley and Justin. Looking forward to continuing to watch your little girls grow!

He joined in for a few shots too so they’d have some updated family photos.

Marilyn and Vivian are spunky little girls with LOTS of personality.

Oh that face!

Judith Ann brought these vintage dresses which have been in the family for years. She said she has a picture of her mother tying this very dress on her when she was a little girl! So fun to recreate that moment with her own daughter.

Doesn’t she have the most beautiful baby blue eyes??

It was a joy and privilege to work with you, Jason and Judith Ann!

A few weeks ago I spent a day with a local photographer doing some one-on-one mentoring. We talked about shooting, lighting, post-processing, business, and marketing, and drank a week’s worth of coffee. It was a great day. A few weeks ago I spent a day with a local photographer doing some one-on-one mentoring. We talked about shooting, lighting, post-processing, business, and marketing, and drank a week’s worth of coffee. It was a great day.

I put a call out on my Facebook page for a child to model for us so we could practice some shooting together. I was thrilled when Meg’s mom responded right away. Meg is a sweet, happy 6 year old girl, whose hobbies include “being silly, telling jokes, and being kind of crazy,” if I remember correctly. She was an absolute dream to work with and this is what we came up with in our 15 minutes together.

Thanks, Cara, for lending us your beautiful girl to practice on! I’m glad you and she have some special mommy-daughter pictures together now!

Today I got to spend some time with the Weber sisters.  These girls are FUN.  You can tell from their pictures – I love the joy that just bubbles out of them nonstop.

I love surprises. Surprise proposals, surprise homecomings, surprise plot twists, surprise parties. I dreamed for years about how I’d creatively surprise my husband with the news we were expecting our first child. (And wouldn’t ya know it… when the time came, I just walked up and told him. So much for creativity.) Every now and [...]

I love surprises. Surprise proposals, surprise homecomings, surprise plot twists, surprise parties. I dreamed for years about how I’d creatively surprise my husband with the news we were expecting our first child. (And wouldn’t ya know it… when the time came, I just walked up and told him. So much for creativity.)

Every now and then, I get a request for a surprise photo session. Recently it was a set of 6 siblings who wanted to put together a photo album for their mom for Christmas (it was super fun… blog post coming soon). This session was a surprise for this little girl’s mommy, set up by her Grandparents. They managed to sneak her away, bringing several outfits, props, favorite toys and stuffed animals, and we squeezed in a mini session without mom suspecting a thing. They presented her with the pictures as a birthday present a few weeks later.

Little miss “N” made this session a total joy. She was one of my son’s friends from his Kindermusik class last year, and it was great to see her again and see how much she’s grown.

Isn’t she such a doll in her little red hat and coat!

If you like the idea of surprising someone in your life with professional photos, feel free to click “website” above for more details. I still have a couple openings in February and March.
